Over the years we have become synonymous for our cooking and indeed the food we prepare and serve is, in our eyes, the true meaning of our existence.

All produce used is, where possible, local and adapts well to the weekly changing restaurant menu, where we try and arrange simple dishes alongside the more adventurous and imaginative ones. The Aberdeen Angus steaks have become a popular feature.

In the bar, lunch is served daily (except Monday) and all the pickles, chutney and breads etc are homemade. At dinner in the evening, everything from the selection of breads offered at the beginning to the chocolate truffles at the close, are prepared in out kitchen.

To compliment the food, each year we offer a unique selection of wines from around the world, which offer, in our opinion, a perfect marriage with the cooking.

In 1995, due to continued encouragement, we built a demonstration kitchen, in which we offer Day Cookery Courses in the spring and autumn.

We started running day cookery demonstrations several years ago and each year since Bobby has taken to the kitchen every Thursday and Friday in November to present a two part informal, lively and humorous performance demonstrating some of our more popular dishes and customer requests. A three-course luncheon with wine is served with morning coffee and tea before departure. All notes and recipes are provided. The inclusive cost of the day is £65.00.

Ulverston Golf Club just along the road at Bardsea is very welcoming to guests. We can arrange for tee off times with the club steward.

We welcome your DOGS in the bar lounge and guest rooms at no added charge.

Our local IMAGO gym welcomes guests on a daily basis and the adjacent tennis centre operated by South Lakeland District Council offers some of the best facilities in the county.

Walks across the sands of the Levens Estuary and Morecambe Bay can be organised with Ray Porter, our neighbour who is one of the two official QUEENS GUIDES to the sands.
